High efficiency motor
Energy efficiency is especially important for low-voltage three-phase rate-cage induction motor, the most popular model, which boasts the merits of low price, simple control, and easy repair/maintenance. Consequently, the U.S. embraced the Premium efficiency standard in 2010, while other regions are also scheduled to embrace various efficiency standards, including EuP Directives IE3 for European Union in 2015, GB 18613 GB2 for China in 2016, JISC4213 IE3 for Japan in 2015, and CNS 14400 IE3 for Taiwan in 2017. With the graphic showing the development of efficiency standards in various countries, overall speaking IE3 motor will replace IE2 model and become market mainstream by 2015.
 To materialize the concept of “sustainable development for enterprise and environment,” TECO has dedicated for a long time to the deployment of high-efficiency motors, as evidenced by the complete lineup for the series of high-efficiency motors IEC and NEMA. Besides IE1-IE3, IE4, boasting performance higher than the 2016 standards of various nations, has entered the stage of mass production and been shipped to five major continents, making major contribution to the global cause for energy conservation and carbon abatement, thereby alleviating the impact on the environment.
Roadmap for the development of high-efficiency motors
Thanks to cutting-edge technology, TECO motors have passed the certifications of ISO9001 and ISO/TS16949, a testimony to its strict quality control and quest for topnotch quality and products. The company's laboratory for motor testing complies with international standards, as evidenced by the certification of NVLAP of the U.S. Department of Commerce, CC002A of the U.S. Department of Energy, CSA of Canada, and TAF of Taiwan, making it the first internationally certified motor laboratory in the Far East. The laboratory has greatly facilitated the company R&D and innovation for motors.

In comparison with IE1, high-efficiency IE2, IE3, and IE4 motors sold in 2013 can cause 530 million kWh of power saving and cut CO2 emission by 282,000 metric tons a year, with over 85% of contribution coming from IE3.
Smart energy-saving home appliances
Global energy shortage and soaring power rates have aroused awareness of environmental protection and energy conservation among consumers. Major home-appliances firms have been sparing no effort in developing energy-saving models, as home appliances have been a major source of energy consumption in people's daily life. Backed by the integrated resources of the group and in adherence to the policy of “energy-saving TECO and green technology,” the company has developed first-grade energy-efficiency levelinverter air conditioners and refrigerators, among others, contributing to the materialization of low-carbon and energy-saving green life.
Development of air conditioners
TECO air conditioners feature large-sized LED display of power consumption and temperature, cautioning users in energy consumption. The products boast an optimal design for heat exchanger and air-flow, which couples with own-developed inverter control technology in achieving high energy-efficiency. MS20VC3 is a model with the smallest body on the market, featuring environment-friendly materials and easy dismantling, facilitating recycling, a major reason behind the over 90% recycling rate for the model.

Backed by own patented technology, TECO has successfully developed smart inverter refrigerator with learning capacity, which can help consumers pinpoint most power-saving operating mode for consumers, based on the operating time and number of door opening. The memory capacity of the refrigerator combines with the use of VIP (vacuum insulation panel) for the body , leading to topnotch power efficiency among similar products on the market. It adopts new environment-friendly refrigerant R600a.
In water conservation, in addition to the application of inverter control technology in fully automated energy-saving washing machine, water-economy technology is also employed in washing machines, leading to 25% saving in water consumption, compared with traditional models.

Core technologies blend with energy conservation and intelligence
Core technologies for TECO's air conditioners, refrigerators, and washing machines feature energy conservation and environmental friendliness.
The company's control technology has extended its reach from autonomous diagnosis of malfunctions to remote repair and maintenance, boosting not only efficiency but also cutting carbon emission, and further to remote group control, facilitating linkage with other home appliances for the management of optimal operation, which results in comfort and energy saving. For inverter control technology, the R&D effort focuses on achievement of optimal environmental parameter and operating frequency, for the effect of energy conservation, comfort, and quietness.
TECO refrigerators employs environment-friendly refrigerant R600, harmless to the ozone layer entirely, and study is also undergoing to apply ozone layer-friendly refrigerant R410A in air conditioners. In addition, our R&D targets further improvement in the distribution of refrigerant system, efficiency of air-flow, and heat-exchang efficiency of heat exchanger, in order to augment energy conservation and lessen the impact of resources (copper, aluminum, etc.) on the environment.
Roadmap for technological development for smart energy-saving home appliances
In adherence to the concept “green R&D and green marketing,” TECO has continuously rolled out government-certified green energy-saving products, winning the affirmation and purchase of consumers. In recent years, the company has focused on pushing grade-1 and grade-2 models for air conditioners and refrigerators, with the aim of boosting their shares to over 50%. In 2013, green products accounted for 60% of the company's total shipment. In comparison with the government's requirement of fourth-grade energy-efficiency, TECO's shipment of first-and second-grade energy-efficiency air conditioners in 2013 achieved 8.054 million kilowatts/hour of power saving and cut 4,285 metric tons of CO2 emission in the year. TECO will continue to march in the direction of energy conservation and earth-friendliness, in order to maximize its contribution to alleviating the impact of climate change.
